This specimen is composed of a single beautiful blue kyanite crystal in pegmatite matrix from the western North Carolina Mountains. The naturally-bent gemmy kyanite crystal stands in a weathered quartz and feldspar matrix. This very large kyanite crystal is 1-1/2" wide by 6-1/2" long and a whopping 3/16" thick. The dimensions of the whole specimen are 9" long by 6-1/2" thick by 7-1/2" wide with a weight of 14-1/2 pounds. Kyanite from this location is rare as it formed in a pegmatite under unique metamorphic conditions that produced some of the largest and finest kyanite crystals in North America.

A mass of beautiful light blue kyanite blades in a quartz matrix. The largest kyanite crystal is 3” long by 1” wide. The dimensions of this rock are 17" wide by 8” tall by 6” thick with a weight of 36-1/2 pounds. This specimen was collected in the western North Carolina Mountains.

This large cabinet specimen collected in Yancey County, North Carolina is composed of kyanite, muscovite, quartz and feldspar. The dimensions of this rock are 9" long by 7" wide by 3" thick with a weight of 4-3/4 pounds. The kyanite crystals reach about 12" long by 8" wide by 5" thick with a weight of 15 pounds.

This cabinet specimen is composed almost entirely of aqua blue kyanite with milky white quartz. Sprinkled in the matrix are tiny crystals of pyrite. The rock was collected at world-famous Graves Mountain, Georgia best known for its spectacular rutile. The dimensions of this piece are 9" long by 7" wide by 3" thick with a weight of 4-3/4 pounds. The kyanite crystals reach about ½" wide by 1" long.
