Here Norma shows enthusiastically her
just cracked treasure chest of goodies!

Chris and Jacob show off
their just cracked treasure.

Afterwards, Herb set up for his Bonseki demonstration and soon had all of us absolutely amazed as he used rocks and grains of sand on a black board to create right before our eyes an enchantingly beautiful landscape. Rather then muddle my way through a description of his creation, I'll let the pictures describe the experience.

Herb beginning his Bonseki demonstration
and explaining his roots in the art. Note
the placement of the first 5 stones (Florida
agatized coral) on the black board before him
where he'll create a masterpiece right before
our eyes. Note also the tools of Bonseki. .

Herb selecting the 8 grades of stone
and sand (varying from course to fine)
used in Bonseki to accent the
main stones previously applied
and placing them upon his picture board.

Herb applying the creative
mediums to his developing picture.

The scene really beginning to form.

A deft sweep of the hand and
the mountains take form

Two crisp and clean mountain peaks.

The scene develops.

Mount Fuji and the moon make an appearance.

The reflection of the moon across
the still surface of a lake.

Creating waves across the surface of the water.

The waves in place, or at least
the first variation of them...

The waves changed and the final
version appears to the delight of
all of us gathered round!
